One Zinc(II) Fluorescent Material Based on N-[(3-Pyridine)-sulfonyl] Amino Acid

Abstract


The reaction of Zn(OAc)2·2H2O with N-[(3-Pyridine)-sulfonyl]amino acid (H2L) and 4,4¢-bipy in methanol and water under solvent thermal condition leads to the formation of a Zinc(II) fluorescent material: [Zn·(L)·(4,4'-bipy)·H2O]n·nH2O (1). It was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction, and the results showed that it belongs to monoclinic crystal system, P21/c space group. TGA curves show that (1) first removes water molecules, and then the ligand split for (1), and the remained residue is ZnO. The fluorescence analysis of (1) in the solid state at room temperature showed that strong blue fluorescence was emitting out under 331 nm excitation, indicating that this material has a very good fluorescence response and the luminescent lifetime is 232 ns.
