Abstract

In this work fused textile system composed of outer fabric and weft knitted interlining was investigated. Mechanical properties such as elastic modulus in longitudinal Ex and transverse directions Ey, as well as Poisson’s ratio μxy were defined using KESFB1 (Kawabata Evaluation System for Fabrics) automatic tensile/shear system. Finite Element Method (FEM) package Cosmos/M 2.5 was used to simulate basic model of fused textile system with one and three circular holes (∅ 5 mm) in the center of the specimen. For this research 4 - node multi-layer quadrilateral shell elements SHELL4L were used. Distribution of principal stresses σ1 and displacements Δl in different layers of textile system were established and defect propagation process in respect to mechanical properties of textile material and number of defects was estimated.
